Anglo European School Sanctuary, Ingatestone, Essex
The brief was to convert a disused outbuilding into a sanctuary for use by pupils and staff alike, to reflect the school's international ethos and also in memory of the late Headteacher Mr Bob Reed. Funds were raised to build the sanctuary by the school and parents and the concept and design offered by Prince Firooz Alexander Sefre Zand has been his contribution to the education of also his own children at the school.
This sanctuary building and its purpose fit exactly into the concept of Sefre Architects + Research Group; there is an overwhelming need for all secondary schools to have such a place for the children to go and dream! The end result is a haven of tranquillity within a bustling school and somewhere to go and meditate, "chill out" and then return refreshed to class or work.

Sefre Architects & Research Group has been very happy to work with the school on this project and the building was formally opened by the Anglo European's first headteacher Normal Pitt to also celebrate the 40th Anniversary of the school.
